House Fire

December 31st

 

Engine Company 56 along with Tanker 56 was dispatched to Belfast Twp. 14695 Timber Ridge Road for a house fire. E156,Tanker 56 and Amb 456 with a total of 10 personnel. E156 arrived on scene to establish a draft site and Tanker 56 was utilized for water supply. Crews from E156 and Tanker 56 assisted with fire suppression.






MVA

December 23rd

 

Company 56 Fire and EMS were dispatched to Ayr Twp. Intersection of Great Cove Rd. and Big Cove Tannery Rd for an MVA box 156-01. Requested by PSP for an MVA following a high speed chase. Units arrived on scene to find 2 patient's needing flown out. Engine crews assisted with patient packaging. LZ was established by utility 56. 



Electrical Fire

December 23rd

 

Company 56 Fire and EMS were dispatched to Ayr Twp. 13 Gerald Circle for an Electrical fire Box 256-01. Command 56 held E256 and placed all other units in service. Occupants were displaced due to electrical malfunction in the fuse box. Redcross assisted on scene with placement for both occupants.




MVA

December 18th

 

Company 56 Fire and EMS units were dispatched at 0754hrs to Licking Creek Twp. 10676 Lincoln Highway Box 356-03 for an MVA w/rollover. Units arrived on scene to find one vehicle on it's side in a ditch with one occupant out of the vehicle. Fire Crews checked for hazards while EMS handled a patient refusal. Command placed units in service at 0811hrs.

 




Car Fire

December 12th

 

Company 56 Fire and EMS units were dispatched at 1616hrs to Ayr Twp. 18734 Lincoln Highway Box 156-01 for a vehicle fire. Chief 56 arrived on scene to find one vehicle well involved in the engine carparment. Engine 156 arrived on scene w/6 and pulled a line and put a quick knockdown on the fire. Command placed the box in service at 1648hrs.

 

 





MVA


November 26th

 

Engine Company 56 was dispatched around 0700 for an MVA with rollover in Peter's Twp. Box 9-56A. Chief 56 along with Engine 156 arrived on scene along with an ambulance from FC Co.9 to find one vehicle in the east bound lane on it's roof with one occupant out of the vehicle. The Engine crew checked for and contained hazards while EMS obtained a patient refusal. Command placed units in service a short time later.





Brush Fire

November 20th

 

Company 56 Fire & EMS units were dispatched to Ayr Twp. 3132 Buchanan Trail Box 156-01 for a brush fire. Chief 56 arrived on scene to find a small area involved and held it to brush 256. The fire was started by a cigarette that someone threw along the road. That's just a reminder please discard your cigarettes properly.




MVA

 

November 12th

 

Company 56 Fire & EMS unit were dispatched to Licking Creek Twp. 5167 Lincoln Highway Box 356-03 for an MVA. Units arrived on scene to find one vehicle on it's side in a ditch with 1 occupant out for the vehicle not injuried. Fire Crews checked for hazards and EMS handled the patient refusal. Command placed Co. 56 units in service a short time later.

 



Medical Assist

November 7th

 

Brush 256 and Ranger 56 was alerted to assist Ambulance 256 on a fall victim from a tree at 1546hrs in Todd Twp. 135 Johnstons Drive Box 256-01 B256,Ranger 56 went responding with a total of 8 personnel. Crews assisted EMS with patient packaging and extrication from the woods to the ambulance. Ambulance 256 transported 1 patient to FCMC class 3.

 




Smoke in a house

November 7th

 

Company 56 units were alerted at 0756hrs to the Borough of McConnellsburg 644 Lincoln Way East Box 56-01 for smoke in a house. Chief 56 arrived on scene and found a light smoke condition in the basement due to a furnace malfunction. Chief 56 held the box to Engine 156 and Truck 56. Crews set up a positive pressure fan and turned off the power to the furnace. Once the smoke cleared and everything was rechecked command placed the box in service.





Barn Fire

November 7th

 

Engine and Tanker Co.56 were alerted to Montgomery Twp. 9902 Mercersburg Rd. Box 9-02 for a barn fire.  E256 w/5 T56 w/3 for a total of 8 personnel went responding. E256 was advised to set a fill site while tanker 56 was used to shuttle water.





MVA

November 6th

 

Company 56 units were alerted at 1630hrs to Todd Twp. 23398 Great Cove Rd. Box 256-01 for an MVA. Units arrived on scene to find 3 vehicles of in the north bound lane with one injury. Fire Crew assisted with patient packaging and checked for hazards. EMS transported 1 patient to FCMC class 3. Once all hazards were contained command placed the box in service.





Brush/Shed Fire

November 5th

 

Engine Company 56 was alerted at 1312hrs to Franklin County Montgomery Twp. 9413 Blue Spring Road Box 9-02 for a brush/shed fire. E256 responded with a total of 6. E256 arrived on scene to assist with salavage and overhaul. Command placed E256 in service at 1434hrs.

 

 







Vehicle Fire

November 2nd

 

Company 56 units were alerted at 0647hrs to Todd Twp. Box 256-01 11433 Lincoln Highway for a vehicle fire. E156,T56,A256 responded with a total of 9 personnel. C56 arrived on scene to find one vehicle in the eastbound lane fully involved. The crew from E156 put a quick knockdown on the fire. Command placed the box in service at 0724hrs.



 

Chimney Fire 

October 23rd

 

Company 56 units were alerted at 0855hrs Belfast Twp. 8053 Great Cove Road for a chimney fire. E156 and T56 went responding with a total of 5 personnel. Units arrived on scene to find a light smoke condition inside the residence. Truck 55 made access to the roof and E156 crew checked for extension as well as the cleanout from the chimney. Command 55 placed all units in service at 0954hrs.





Fulton Fall Folk Festival

 

Thanks to all the help over the weekend during the Fulton Fall Folk Festival we had a great turnout of members for the different things going on around the firehall. More importantly thank you to all the members of the community that came out to support the fire company, your the reason we still exist and without your support we wouldn't be as far along as we are today. So once again a big thank you to the community.






Chimney Fire 

October 14th 

 

Company 56 units were alerted at 0842hrs to Ayr Twp. 2663 Back Run Road for a chimney fire. Chief 56 arrived on scene to find light black smoke coming from the chimney. Chief 56 held the box to Co.56 The engine and truck crew checked for extension and cleared the chimney of obstructions. Command placed the box in service a short time later.




Chimney Fire 

October 13th 

 

Company 56 units were alerted at 1855hrs to Todd Twp. 416 Horton Drive for a chimney fire. Chief 56 arrived on scene to find light black smoke coming from the chimney. Chief 56 held the box to E156. Crews checked for hazards and command placed the box in service a short time later.

 

Chimney Fire 

October 12th 

 

Company 56 units were alerted at 2033hrs to Licking Creek Twp. 122 Leasure Mountain Road for a Chimney Fire. E156,T56,TK56,and A456 went responding with a total of 13 personnel. Units arrived scene to find heavy black smoke coming from the chimney. The roof crew dropped chains and the interior crewed checked for extension in the residence and found nothing. Command placed the box in service a short time later.





Fire Prevention

October 9th 

 

Company 56 members had a busy day doing fire prevention. The fire company would like to remind families to change the batteries in there smoke detectors, as well as talk with your children about fire prevention for tips or help don't hesistate to contact the firehouse. Rememeber we are here to assist and keep you and your family safe anyway we can.









MVA

October 8th 

 

Company 56 units were alerted at 1949hrs to Licking Creek Twp. 4387 Lincoln Highway for an MVA. Company 56 units responded with a total of 15 personnel. C56 arrived on scene to find one vehicle off the roadway into a ditch on it's side with all occupants out of the vehicle with no injuries. Command 56 held the box to E156 and placed all other units in service. The crew from E156 assisted with debris removal as well as babysitting the driver's dogs until the wrecker arrived. Command placed the box in service at 2110hrs.





Upgrade to the existing parking lot

October 5th

 

Company 56 is proud to announce the completion of the new parking lot. This will aid in additional parking for emergency responders as well as parking for the community.



MVA

October 3rd 

 

Company 56 units were alerted at 1658hrs to Todd Twp. the intersection of Lincoln Way East and Buchanan Trail for an MVA. Units arrived on scene with a total of 17 personnel. EMS handled 1 patient refusal and the engine crew checked and contained hazards. Command placed the box in service a short time later.




MVA

October 3rd 

 

Company 56 units were alerted at 0927hrs to Ayr Twp. 18734 Lincoln Highway for an MVA. Units arrived on scene to find 2 vehicles involved. EMS transported 2 patient's to FCMC and fire crews checked for and cleaned up hazards command placed the box in service a short time later.




MVA w/entrapment  

October 2nd

 

Company 56 units were alerted at 1053hrs to Todd Twp. to the 1400 block LWE for an MVA with entrapment. Units arrived on scene to find 2 vehicles blocking the west bound lane with one patient trapped in her vehicle. The Engine crew stabilized and used the rescue tools to remove the door from the vehicle so EMS could make access. Once EMS had access the engine crew helped with patient packaging and getting the patient the rest of the way out of the vehicle. EMS transported a total of 3 patient's. Command 56 placed the box in service a short time later.

 




Mobile Home Fire 

 

September 28th 

 

Company 56 units were alerted at 1242hrs to Licking Creek Twp. 6810 Pleasant Ridge Road Box 555-01 to assist Co. 55 with a mobile home fire. E156, T56, Car 56, and Amb 456 responded with a total of 12 personnel. Crews from 56 assisted with the fire knockdown. The crew from E156 also assisted with searching for a dog still inside the mobile home. Big Thanks to FC Co. 18 St. Thomas for covering our station while we were operating on the fire.

 

 

 

 

 


Building Fire

 

September 24th

 

Company 56 units were alerted at 0933hrs to the Borough of Mercersburg Box 9-01 for a building fire. E256,TK56, & T56 responded with a total of 9 personnel. Units arrived on scene to assist with the fire knockdown. Truck 56 was used for roof operations. 56 units returned to service at 1030hrs

September 19th 

 

Company 56 units were alerted at 1455hrs to Todd Twp. the intersection of Great Cove Rd and Shady Grove Dr. for an MVA. Units arrived on the scene to find one vehicle off the roadway with a utility pole sheared off with one occupant out of the vehicle not injuried. EMS handled the patient refusal while fire crews checked for hazards. Command placed the box in service at 1526hrs

September 9th 

 

Company 56 units were alerted at 1055hrs to Ayr Twp. 18734 Lincoln Highway for a motorcycle accident. E156 responded with a crew of 6. MICU 156 responded with a crew of 2. C56 arrived on scene to find 1 motorcycle off the roadway with one injury. MICU 156 transported 1 patient to the LZ at FCMC. Command placed the box in service at 1110hrs




MVA

September 8th 

 

Company 56 units were alerted at 1717hrs to Licking Creek Twp. 4811 Lincoln Highway for an MVA. MICU 156 & Amb.456 arrived on scene to find 1 vehicle off the roadway into a ditch with confinement. E156 arrived on scene to stabliize the vehicle and helped extricate the patient's from the vehicle. MICU 156 transported 1 patient and Amb. 456 handled the patient refusal. Command placed the box in service at 1824hrs.


 

House Fire 

August 14th 

  Company 56 units along with Co.57, Co.55, and FC CO.9 units were alerted at 0916hrs for a  house fire at 20525 Great Cove Road. E156 and C56 arrived on scene with 4 to find smoke showing. The Engine crew advanced a handline to the 2nd floor and found fire in a bedroom room. The Engine crew put a quick knock down on the fire. Personnel assisted with salvage and overhaul and Command placed the box is service at 1021hrs.

 




MVA

 

August 10th

Company 56 units were alerted at 2229hrs to Licking Creek Twp. 5206 Lincoln Highway for an MVA E156 responded with a crew of 6. Both EMS units (Amb. 456 and MICU 256 responded with crews of 2. Chief 56 arrived on scene to find 2 vehicles head on with serious injuries to both patient's. Command 56 requested additonal ALS. Brush 256 responded to established a LZ for aeromedical. 2 Patient's were flown one from the scene and the other from FCMC helipad. Units returned to service at 0009hrs.

 
 

Motorcycle Accident 

August 7th 

 

Company 56 units were alerted at 1433hrs to Thompson Twp. 4049 Big Cove Tannery Rd. for a motorcycle accident. E156, MICU 256 and A456 responded with a total of 9 personnel. C56 arrived on scene to find 1 motorcycle off the roadway with one patient. MICU 156 transported 1 patient to FCMC. Engine crew checked and cleaned hazards. Command 56 placed the box in service at 1514hrs.




MVA w/entrapment

July 29th

 

Company 56 units were alerted at 0829hrs to Ayr Twp. 18250 Great Cove Rd. for an MVA with entrapment. E156, MICU 156 and MICU 356 went responding with a total of 11 personnel. Units arrived on scene to find 2 vehicles one overturned and one into a pole with entrapment. Fire Crews worked to extricate the patient while EMS treated both patient's. MICU 156 transported 1 patient to the LZ and MICU 356 transported 1 patient to FCMC. Command placed 56 units in service at 0951 hrs






Land Rescue 

July 28th

 

Company 56 units were alerted at 1337hrs to Licking Creek Twp. 459 Forrestdale Road for a unresponsive person in a tree stand. Units arrived on scene to find 1 patient having a heat emergency stuck in his tree stand. Fire Crews assisted with patient packaging while EMS handled the patient's medical emergency. Truck 56 was used to extricate the patient from the tree stand. MICU 156 transported to FCMC and Command 56 placed all other units in service at 1521hrs.






MVA

July 22nd

 

Company 56 units were alerted at 1623hrs Todd Twp. 1906 Lincoln Way West for a motorcycle accident. Units arrived on scene to find one motorcycle on it's side with 2 patient's walking around. Fire crews checked for hazards and EMS handled patient refusals. Command placed the box in service at 1638hrs




MVA

July 13th

 

Company 56 units were alerted at 1613hrs to Todd Twp. the intersection of LWE and Lincoln Hwy.  for a MVA. E156, MICU 256 and A456 went responding with 10 personnel. Units arrived on scene to find 2 vehicles blocking the roadway with heavy damage to both. Fire Crews checked and cleaned up hazards. EMS transported 2 patient's to FCMC. Command placed the box in service at 1659hrs.




Vehicle Fire 

July 5th

 

Company 56 units were alerted at 1331hrs to assist Co.57 on a vehicle fire at 29459 Great Cove Rd. E156 and T56 responded with a total of 6. Units arrived on scene to help extinguish the fire and clean up. Command 57 placed Co. 56 units in service at 1357hrs.





Mountain Fire 

July 2nd 

 

Company 56 units were alerted at 1643hrs to Peter's Twp. Franklin County 13250 Lincoln Way West for a mountain fire assisting FC Co.9 E256, Brush's 1&256 responded with a total of 15 personnel. Crews assisted with containing the fire and mop up operations. Command 9 placed Co. 56 units in service at 2123hrs.





MVA

June 24th 

 

Company 56 units were alerted at 1722hrs to Ayr Twp. 17591 Great Cove Rd. for an MVA with multiple injuries. Units arrived on scene to find 2 vehicles blocking the roadway. E156 assisted with patient packaging as well as checking and cleaning up hazards. EMS transported a total of 5 patient's to FCMC. Command placed the box in service at 1815hrs.

June 18th 

 

Company 56 units were alerted at 1200hrs in Licking Creek Twp. 10000 block of Lincoln Highway for a motorcycle accident. Units arrived on scene to find 1 motorcycle along the roadway with 2 injuries. EMS transported 2 patients to FCMC. Command placed the box in service at 1300hrs.




MVA

June 18th 

 

Company 56 units were alerted at 2331hrs in Ayr Twp. 19842 Great Cove Rd. for an MVA. E156 and A456 responded with a total of 8 personnel. C56 arrived on scene to find one vehicle off the roadway into the woods with 1 occupant out of the vehicle with no injuries. E156 set up scene lighting for the wrecker service to remove the vehicle. Command placed the box in service at 0043hrs.




Brush Fire 

June 14th 

 

Company 56 units were alerted at 1159hrs in Ayr Twp. 21095 Great Cove Road for a brush fire. B156, A256, E256 responded with a total of 6 personnel. C56 arrived on scene to find a small area involved and held the box to B156. Command placed the box in service at 1208hrs.




AFA 

June 9th 

 

Company 56 units were alerted at 1948hrs to the Borough of McConnellsburg for an AFA at 121 N. 2nd street. E156 and B256 responded with a total of 8 personnel. Units arrived on scene to find a moderate smoke condition. A search of the building found there was an eletrical issue in the AC. Crews set up a positive pressure fan to clear the smoke. Command placed the box in service at 2017hrs




MVA

May 19th 

 

Company 56 units were alerted at 0341hrs to Licking Creek Twp. 1171 Possum Hollow Rd. for an MVA. E156 responded with 5 and MICU 156 responded with 2. C56 arrived on scene to find 1 vehicle off the road way with no injuries. E156 set up lighting and MICU 156 handled the patient refusal. Command placed the box in service at 0451hrs.





Kitchen Fire

 

 

May 15th

 

E1-56 responded to 633 LWE in the borough for a reported kitchen fire. C56 arrived finding the fire had been extinquished with smoke conditions throughout the residence. The engine arrived and ventilated and checked for extension. Units returned within 30 min.

 

 


Brush Fire 

May 13thMay 13th

 

Company 56 responded to Meadow Mountain Drive for a brush fire endangering a structure. C56 arrived to find a small area of brush on fire not spreading rapidly. Brushes 1 and 2-56 arrived and extinguished the fire. Units returned within 30 min.

 

 

 

Engine, Tanker & Truck on Building Fire

 

May 13th

 

E2-56 responded on the first alarm assignment to the Borough of Mercerburg on Main Street for the garage fire. First arriving units found a working fire and additional units were requested bringing Truck 56 and Tanker 56. E2-56 arrived and supplied E18-1 and assisted in operations. Units operated through the night before being released. Thanks to Company 57 and 55 for transferring!!

 

 

 

Motorcycle Accident with Flyout

 

May 12th

 

Company 9 units along with MICU 2-56 responded to 270 Aughwick Road in Peters Twp for a motorcycle accident. MICU 2-56 arrived finding one patient along the side of the road and requested Air Medical. E1-56 was dispatched to assist on scene while E9-1 established the LZ in Fort Loudon. The patient was packaged and transported to the LZ. All units cleared shortly after the helicopter took off.

 

 

 

Live Burn

 

May 12th

 

Company 56 members along with members from Co55, 57, FC9 & Sta4 took part in a live burn training this morning. Crews ran evolutions for most of the morning before letting the house burn.

 

 
Smoke in the Building

 

 

May 11th

 

Franklin dispatched a single engine on the 9-01 box for smoke in the buidling. E2-56 responded and while enroute was diverted to Co9's quarters. The engine was on stand by under and hour before being released.

 


 

Fuel Spill

 

 

May 3rd

 

E1-56 responded to Sheetz at the gas pumps for a fuel leak. The engine arrived to find a vehicle leaking gasoline out of the tank. The spill was contained.

 


 

Auto Accident

 

 

May 3rd

 

Co56 units were alerted to Meadow Ground Road in Ayr Township this morning for an auto accident with reported entrapment. MICU 1-56 arrived on scene finding one vehicle off the roadway on its side, one patient self extricated. EMS treated for minor injuries while the Engine's crew secured the vehicle and checked and contained hazards. Units returned shortly after.

 


 

Memorial Flags

 

 

Members have been traveling to area cemetaries placing and replacing FD grave markers and flags for members who have past away. This is done annually by the Fire Dept.

 


 

Brush Fire

 

 

March 18th

 

Brush 1-56 responded to Cito Road in Ayr Township for a brush fire. C56 arrived to find a small area invovled started by a control burn. The fire was contained and Co56 returned available.

 


 

Live Burn

 

March 17th

 

Company 56 & Company 9 members participated in a live burn exercise today at 0800.

 

 

 

Auto Accident

 

March 15th

 

E1-56 was on scene requested by PSP for lighting on Great Cove Road in Ayr Twp for an auto accident. The patient was taken to the FCMC prior by a passer by and later flown out.


 

Brush Fire

 

March 11th

 

56 units responded to 23000 Great Cove Road for a brush fire. C56 arrived finding a controlled burn now out of control and spreading through the woods. Brush 1 & 2-56 arrived and contained it.

 

 

Control Burn Extinguished

 

Feb 23rd

 

Brush 1-56 was alerted to Oakleaf Road in Todd Twp to extinguish a control burn. The brush arrived to find a small trash fire and the resident requesting it be put out due to high winds. The small fire was put out, Brush 1-56 returned available.

 

Field Fire

 

Feb 18th

 

56 units responded to Ridge View Lane for a field fire. Br1-56 and 2-56 arrived finding a brush pile on fire in the field and spreading quickly due to the winds. The fire was contained and units returned to service within 30 minutes.

50th Annual Awards Banquet

Company 56 held its 50th annual awards banquet this evening to give recognition to the members. Awards are as follows. Fireman of the Year presented by MC David Hoover to Gary Peck for years of dedication to the Fire Company. EMT of the Year presented to John Washabaugh for his dedication to the Ambulance Squad. Fire Chiefs award to Gregg Connelly for his hours of service over the past year. EMS Chiefs award presented by EMS Chief Cody Lynch to Jason Pecho for his selflessness over the past year. Special thanks to the transfer crews from PHVFC, St. Thomas, Monroe FD and Newville FD.Also the Mountain Gate Restaurant for the meal.

 

 

 

 

 

Land Rescue

 

Jan 17th

 

Ambulance 4-56 initially responded to Great Cove Road and Thistle Ridge Lane for a fall victim. While enroute, they were advised of the patient being located in the woods and possibly since the prior day. Ranger 56 was dispatched along with ALS and arrived with the patient located by A4-56's crew. The Ranger was utilized to extract the patient out of the woods where he was then transported to the FCMC.

 

 

 

Accident w/ Confinement

 

Jan 2nd

 

Engine 1-56 & EMS responded to the 18000 Block of Lincoln Highway for an auto accident. Units arrived finding one auto into a pole with two occupants not injured unable to get out. The engine's crew stablized the vehicle and assisted the occupants out where there were then checked by EMS and released. Units returned to service.
