Franklin to Fulton

 

Dec 31st - As members were at the hall awaiting the new year, Co9 was alerted to 12100 Dickeys Rd in Peters Twp at 2314 hrs for a reported dwelling fire. E1-56 and ET56 responded immediately after dispatch with a total of 13. 56 units were place in service, false alarm.

 

Possible Oven Fire

 

Dec 28th - At 1435 hrs, Company 57 and 56 units were dispatched to 2228 Buck Road in Licking Creek Twp. E1-56 and the Tanker responded along with 57 and arrived with no fire. Co56 went available at 1453 hrs.

 

AFA

 

Dec 25th -  E1-56 responded with 6 personnel to 360 S. 2nd Street at Giant for an automatic alarm. C56 arrived with nothing evident, reset the alarm and placed the box in service.

 

House Fire

 

 

 

Dec 24th - At 1054 hrs, apparatus from 56, 55, WC5, and Morgan County units responded to Thompson Twp, 396 Hilldale Drive for a house fire. E1-56, T56, and TR56 were on scene to assist in knockdown, salvage and overhaul. Co56 units returned at 1256 hrs.

 

 


 

 

Building Fire in Mercersburg

 

 

Dec 21st - At 2106 E1-56 and T56 responded to 25 Harbaugh Drive in Mercersburg for a building fire. Units arrived to assist in knockdown and overhaul. Co56 units went available with 11 personnel at 2304 hrs.


 

 

Chimney Fire

 

Dec 21st - Co56 units responded at 1050 hrs to a chimney fire at 477 Stage Coach Rd in Todd Township. Units arrived with fire in the flu. Personnel extinguished the fire and cleaned out the flu. Co56 went in service at 1131 hrs.

 

 

 

House Fire in Shade Gap

 

Dec 17th - T56 was dispatched at 2257 hrs for a house fire in Huntington County Box 14-06. The Tanker responded at 2258 hrs with 6 but was place available by Command 14 about 2 minutes out from the scene.

 

Mutual Aid

 

Dec 16th - At 1734 hrs, Tanker 56 was alerted for a house fire in the FC18-13 Box, 95 Circle Drive. T56 responded at 1734 with 8 personnel and was placed in service at the top of the mountain.

 

 

CO Detector

 

Dec 15th - At 1939 hrs, while Co56 members were attending a Christmas party, Engine and Ambulance 56 were alerted to 209 East Poplar St. in the Boro for a CO detector activation. E1-56 with the transfer crew from FC18 responded and arrived with a false trip. Units went in service at 2012 hrs.

 

 

Flooding

 

Dec 15th - At 1102 hrs, Co56 was dispatched to 314 Cooper Lane for flooding. E1-56, Car 56, and A3-56 responded non-emergency and arrived with water conditions in the basement. Personnel corrected the problem with Water Authority on scene and went available at 1143 hrs.

Smoke Detector

 

Dec 13th - E1-56 and A2-56 responded at 2256 hrs to 314 Woodside Drive at the Terrace for a smoke detector activation. Units arrived with water conditions in two apts. After finding and correcting the problem, 56 units went available at 2331 hrs.

MVA w/ Confinement

 

Dec 13th - At 0115 hrs, Co56 units were alerted to 11433 LHW for an auto accident with entrapment. C56 arrived with one auto, negative entrapment. A2-56 transported one Class 2 pt to FCMC. Co56 went in service at 0153.

 

E1-56 w/ 6, A2-56 w/ 3, A1-56 w/ 2, and 9 POV.

 

Pickup Truck Fire

 

 

 

Dec 11th - E1-56, T56, and A1-56 responded at 2014 hrs for a vehicle fire at 18734 LHW. Units arrived with a pickup hauling hay bails with fire in the engine compartment. Personnel put a quick knock on the fire and went in service at 2103 hrs.

Tractor Trailor Accident on the Turnpike

 

Nov 29th - At 0651 hrs, E1-56 responded with 6 on an assist with Co57 with a tractor trailor accident with fire. The Engine was requested for a second tool and to set up an LZ for two choppers. E1-56 cleared at 0808 hrs along with Medic 56.

 

Dublin Township Chimney Fire

 

 

Nov 28th - At around 1948hrs, Co57 and 56 were alerted to 280 Sheepskin Hollow Road for a chimney fire. While enroute, Headquarters advised there was fire coming through the chimney and the house was evacuated. E1-56 and E1-57 arrived with fire in the flu and no extension. Personnel cleaned the chimney and ventilated the house. Co56 went available at around 2100hrs.

MVA

 

Nov 27th - Co56 members were awoken at 0210hrs for an auto accident at 1400 LWW. E1-56 and A3-56 responded and arrived on scene to find one vehicle off the road with no patient to be found. Personnel searched along with PSP to find nothing. Co56 units went in service at 0244hrs.

 

 

MVA w/ Entrapment

 

Nov 22nd - At around 1544 hrs, 57 units were dispatched to Great Cove and Breezy Point Rd in Dublin Twp for an auto accident with entrapment. At 1546, Co56 was alerted to the corrected location of 25077 GCR making it Todd Township. Units responded and arrived with one vehicle on it's side with wires down and 1 entrapment. Personnel quickly made access to the patient and was handed over to EMS. STAT 13 was requested and landed at the scene. All units went available at around 1700 hrs.

Big Move At The Fulton County Medical Center

 

Nov 18th - The Members of Company 56 arrived at the firehouse at 0600hrs to get ready to move patients from the old Fulton County Medical Center to the NEW Hospital on the hill at 214 Peach Orchard Rd. Two Ambulance's from Company 56 were used to transport patients from the old Hospital to the New Fulton County Medical Center with help from surrounding companies the move took about 2 1/2 hrs.

 

 

 

Aftermath of House Fire on Sipes Mill

 

Nov.13 - At 1800hrs, Company 56 returned to 13717 Sipes Mill Rd to finish burning down the house that was saved prior to the 13th on Nov 8th. The owner decided that since the house was not livable anymore and that they were in the process of remolding anyway to just burn it the rest of the way down and start over from ground up. Units operating at the controlled burn were Tanker 56,Engine 255 and Tanker 57

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

2nd Fire In A Week

 

Nov 8th - At 1218hrs, Company 56 along with 55,57,and BC40 was alerted to Licking Creek Twp to 13717 Sipes Mill Rd for a House Fire. Chief 56 arrived on scene to find a working fire coming from the 2nd story and into the attic. Chief 56 quickly advised Headquarters to alert for a 2nd alarm assignment for Engines. The fire was brought under control in about in about an hour. Units operating on the scene was Engine 156,256,Tanker56,Truck 56 and Ambulance 356. Also on the scene was Engine 155 and 157, Tanker 57, and ,BC Engine 40 and Tanker 40. Also Company 56 and 57 Fire Police. FC18 covered the hall.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Tractor Trailer Rollover

 

Nov 6th - At 1830hrs, 56 units were alerted to Licking Creek Twp for a MVA involving a tractor trailer rolled over. Units responding was Eng 156,Amb 2 and 356 and Medic 56. Unit arrived on scene to find a tractor trailer on it's side off the roadway. EMS took care of patient refusals. While the Engine company took care of hazards. Units cleared the scene at approx. 1915hrs.

 

 

 

 

Building Fire in Todd Township

\  

Nov 3rd - At 2228 hrs while sitting at the fire station a gentleman came in to the firehouse and advised Chief 56 and other members of MVFC that there was a building fire next to the Dollar General Store in Todd Twp. Chief 56 and crew responded in Eng 156 and arrived to find heavy smoke coming  from the building. Chief 56 quickly advised headquarters to copy an emergency and to dispatch a 2nd alarm assignment for the building fire which was a 256-01 box. Firefighters acted quickly in knocking down the fire which spread into the walls and ceiling space. Company 56 was assisted on the scene by Company 55,57 and FC9. FC Eng 18-1 and Tanker 57 covered the Hall. Also assisting on the scene was Company 56 Fire Police. Company 56 cleared the scene at 0130 hrs.

Auto Accident

 

 

Nov 2nd - At 1230 hrs, Co56 units were alerted to the 22000 block of Great Cove Road for an auto accident with 2 pts. With E1-56 OOS (Pump Test) E2-56 and A3-56 responded. Units arrived with one auto off the roadway with 2 patients. A3-56 transported both pts Class 2 to the FCMC. Co56 went available at around 1300 hrs.


 

 

 

Smoke in a building

 

 Oct.17th- E1-56 was dispatched to the boro of McConnellsburg at 0958hrs 216 South First Street for an automatic alarm. Captain 256 arrived on scene to find a light smoke condition on the 1st floor of the hospital around the ER. E1-56 arrived on scene to setup ventilation to clear the smoke out of the hall way. Chief 56 placed the box in service at 1023hrs.

Company 56 assists on animal rescue

 

 Oct 12th- Company 56 assists on an animal rescue in the boro of McConnellsburg. PGC stopped at the fire house asking for our assistance in helping get a raccoon out of a tree. Brush 1-56 went responding with a crew of 2. Brush 1-56 arrived on scene to find PGC on the scene trying to figure out how to get the raccoon out of the tree. B 1-56 set up the little giant for PGC. The raccoon was rescued successfully with no harm to the raccoon. Brush 1-56 returned to service about an hour later.

 

 

 

McConnellsburg Dedicates New Building

 

 Oct 11th- The McConnellsburg Volunteer Fire Company dedicates the new fire station to the past and present members of the MVFC. The Fire Company would like to thank all those who attended the ceremony and helped with getting everything ready. A special thanks goes to the Modern Woodsman of the world for dedicating the flag poles and to Mr. and Mrs. McDonald for dedicating the American Flag.

 

 

 

Fire Prevention 2007

 

 Fire Prevention was a good success this year the McConnellsburg Fire Company visited multiple

 locations. We visited the Bedford/Fulton Head start building and the Central Fulton School along with tours at the new fire station. Fire Prevention was headed up by FF/EMT Chip Keebaugh and was assisted by Cody Lynch (FF/EMT) Sam Cutchall (Jr. (Member) Ethel Buterbaugh (EMT) Wendy Souders,(Firefighter) Randy Zeger (FF/Paramedic) John Seville (FF) Howard Fox(Driver) and Pete Lynch (Fire Chief) and last but not least a special thanks goes out to DCNR for allowing Smokey the Bear to accompany us during Fire Prevention Week.

 

 

 

             Early Morning MVA

 

Oct 3rd - E1-56, A3-56, and the Medic responded to 225 LWW at 0057 hrs for an auto accident with unknown injuries. Personnel arrived with one auto on an unfinished part of a road with one injury. Co56 went in service at 0213.

   

 

Auto Accident

 

Oct 1st - At 1617 hrs, Co56 responded to the 400 BLK of Buchanan Trail for an auto accident. Units arrived with two vehicles, and pickup rear ended by an auto. Personnel obtained pt refusals and controled hazards and cleared at 1700 hrs.

MVA w/ Flyout

 

Sept 30th - Members were awoken for this wreck at 0230 hrs at 783 Peach Orchard Road. E1-56, A2-56 and M56 responded and arrived with two autos head on with one Priority 1 patient confined. E1's crew popped the passenger side door to gain access. STAT was requested and a LZ was set up by A3-56 at the High School. All units went available at 0317 hrs.

Auto Accident Overturned

 

 

 

Sept 29th- At 1330 hrs, Engine and Ambulance 56 were dispatched to 1400 LWE for an auto overturned. Personnel arrived with one pt refusal. 56 cleared at 1348.

Possible House Fire

 

Sept 28th - At 2035 hrs, Co57 and 56 were alerted to 170 N. Clear Ridge Road for a house fire. E1-56 responded with 5, T56 with 4, and TR56 with 2 at 2037 hrs. E1-57 arrived with no fire and placed the box in service.

 

Auto Accident in the Boro

 

Sept 28th - E1-56 responded at 1753 hrs to Lincoln Way and South 2nd Street for a non injury accident. Personnel assisted in traffic control and hazards and cleared at 1818 hrs.

 

Transfer

 

Sept 27th - E2-56 transferred with 5 to FC Co18 at 1926 hrs while they operated on an apartment building fire. The Engine was released at 2043 hrs.

 

Co56 Assists In Search Party

 

Sept 27th - At 0841 hrs, Co56 was alerted to assist in search operations at Great Cove and Crossroads Road for an apparent "dead body". According to eye witnesses, a man drug what appeared to be a body into a cornfield. Personnel for the Fire Co, the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources forest rangers and a helicopter along with six troopers took part in the search which came up short. Sept 21st - Engine, Ambulance and Medic 56 responded to this auto accident at 1954 hrs to 18200 Great Cove Road. Units arrived with two vehicles approx. a quarter mile apart with two pts. 56 went available at 2103 after the roadway was clear.

Engine & Tanker Assist on FC Fires

 

Sept 19th - At around 1315 hrs, T56 was requested by Franklin County to 4987 Guitner Rd in Hamilton Twp for a shed fire. The Tanker arrived with a building fire and assisted in water supply. At 1711 hrs the Engine and Tanker were dispatched to 11335 Shimpstown Road for a barn fire. Both units arrived with manpower and assisted. All 56 units went in service at 2207 hrs.

Sept 14th - At 2318 hrs, E2-56 was reqeusted by Command 18 for the auto accident at Appleway Rd and LWW. The Engine responded with 6 and arrived to assist in the search party for the patient. E2-56 cleared at around 0100 hrs.

Vehicle Fire


Sept 13th - At around 1430 hrs, E1-56 responded to Patterson Run Road and Reunion Ground Rd for a car fire. The Engine arrived with a fully involved van. Personnel extinguished the fire and went in service at around 1515 hrs.

Auto Accident w/ Heavy Entrapment

 

Sept 7th - At 2051 hrs, Engine, Ambulance and Medic 56 were alerted to 7304 LHW for an auto accident. While enroute, Headquarters advised unknown number of patients, one unconscious and entrapped. E1-56 arrived with 6 and began extrication. STAT MedEvac was requested and landed on scene. A3-56 took one pt refusal and transported one Class 2 to the FCMC. E1-56 remained on scene to provide lighting for SP and the tow truck. Co56 went available at around 2300 hrs.

 

 

Van Fire

 

 

 

 

 

Sept 4th - E1-56, T56, and A-56 responded at 1930 hrs to the 800 block of LWE for a vehicle fire. E1-56 arrived with the van well off to the rear of a building. Personnel extinguished and vented the garage type building. Units cleared at 2030 hrs.

Huntington County Building Fire

 

Aug 19th - At 1807, Tanker 56 was alerted to Huntington County at 21527 Mountain Foot Rd for a building fire. T56 responded with 8 and was turned around at 1819 while enroute.

 

Motorcycle Accident with Flyout

 

Aug 16th - E1-56, A1-56, A2-56 and M56 responded at 2050 hrs to 18734 LHW for a motorcycle accident. Units arrived with two cycles head on, with a Class 1 pt on the roadway, and another Class 2 pt over an embankment. Personnel repelled down the mountain to locate the patient who walked out with the help of FF's and EMT's. Units went available at 2222 hrs.

Dumpster Fire

 

Aug 15th - At 2047, E1-56 responded to 4946 Peach Orchard Rd in Licking Creek Twp for a dumpster fire. Personnel arrived with a well off dumpster next to a house. Personnel put a knockdown on the fire and went in service at 2201 hrs.

 

Outside Investigation

 

Aug 11th - Br1-56 responded with 2 at 2108 hrs to 624 East Market Street for an outside investigation of fire. The Brush arrived with a controlled burn that got out of control. Personnel extinguished the fire and went available at 2115.

 

Building Fire To Barn Fire

 

Aug 9th - Tanker 56 was alerted at 1118 hrs to 2103 Community Center Rd for a building fire in St. Thomas Twp. The unit was placed in service at 1134. At 1138, The Tanker was requested by Command 55 for a barn fire at 2017 Mckees Gap Rd in Union Twp. T56 was on the scene and went back in service at 1644 with 6 personnel.

 

Assist Call

 

Aug 6th - At 2350 hrs, Tanker 56 was requested to fill the FC 9-05 Box for an outside investigation on Little Cove Rd in Warren Twp. T56 responded at 2351 with 5 and made it a few miles down Little Cove to be placed available per Command 9.

 

Auto Accident

 

 

Aug 4th - E1-56 and A2-56 responded to Ayr Twp, 18734 LHW for an auto accident at 2156hrs. Units arrived to find a motorcycle down with one injury. A2-56 and the Medic transported and units went in service at 2214.

Chicken House Fire

 

Aug 4th - At 0900 hrs, Co55 and 56 units were alerted to 2696 Pleasant Ridge Rd for a chicken coop on fire. First arriving units found a chicken house well off next to a mobile home. Personnel worked to save the trailer and knock down the fire. 56 units went available at 1049.

Aug 3rd - At 1946, Engine and Tanker 56 were dispatched to 20 West Seminary Street in Mercersburg for a house fire. E1-56 responded with 4, Tanker 56 with 6. Units arrived at the scene to assist in operations and went available at 2040.

Aug 2nd - At around 2300 hrs, Co55, 56, and 57 were alerted to Lease Rd in Bethel Twp for a house fire. E1-56 responded with 6 along with T56 with 5, and TR56 with 3. 56 units arrived to assist in knockdown and overhaul. Co56 went available at around 0100 hrs.

 

Transfer to FC Co18

 

July 31st - At 2334 hrs, Engine Co56 was alerted to transfer to FC Co18's quarters while they operated on a building fire on Frank Road in Hamilton Twp, Box 44-04. E2-56 transferred and completed at 2400 hrs.

 

Car Fire

 

July 31st - Members were awoken at around 0430hrs for a car fire in front of Giant, 360 South 2nd Street. E1-56 responded with 6 along with A2-56 and arrived with a working car fire. Personnel put a quick knock on it. Co 56 units went in service in about 45 minutes.

House Struck by Lightning

 

July 29th - Engine and Tanker 56 were alerted at 1929 hrs to 9801 Church Hill Rd in FC Peters Twp for smoke in a dwelling. Tanker 56 responded with 7 and was placed in service at 1933 hrs.

2nd MVA in Licking Creek Twp

 

July 26th - E1-56, A2 and 3-56, and M56 responded at 1726 hrs to the intersection of LHW and Pleasant Ridge Rd for an auto accident with entrapment. The Engine arrived with 6 and began extrication. The patient was extricated and in the Ambulance in about 15 minutes. The pt was flown out for precautions; LZ was set up at the Legion. Co56 units went available at 1830 hrs.

 

Total of 26 personnel on scene.

July 25th - At 0726 hrs, E1-56 and A3-56 responded to the intersection of Lincoln HW and Pleasant Ridge Road for an auto accident. Units arrived with one pt Class 2. The Ambulance transported and Co56 went available at 0752.

Basement Fire

 

July 22nd - Co57 and 56 were dispatched at 1906 to Dublin Twp, 250 Log Cabin Rd for a possible basement fire. E1-56 and T56 responded and arrived along with 57 with no fire. 56 went available at 1924

 

Motorcycle Accident

 

 

July 22nd - E1-56, A2-56, A3-56 and the Medic responded to 18734 LHW for a motorcycle wreck. Units arrived with a Class 1 patient and requested STAT. A3-56 set up the LZ at the Legion. Co56 went available at 0948.

 

 

Another Wildfire

 

July 21st - At 1656 hrs 56 units were dispatched yet again to 55's area for a woods fire. Brush 1 and 2-56 responded within a minute, but were placed in service again as we entered Needmore.

 

Car and Woods Fire

 

July 21st - 55 units were dispatched to 885 Wolf Hollow Rd for a car fire at 1303. Units arrived with three vehicles involved spreading into the woods and requested additional units. Brush 1-56, 2-56, and Tanker 56 were alerted and responded later to be turned around just outside of Needmore.

 

Reported Field Fire

 

July 20th - At 1538 hrs, 56 units were dispatched to Buchanan Trail and JLG Drive for a field fire. Br1-56 arrived with a small fire. Units went in service at 1554.

 

MVA with Confinement in the Boro

 

July 19th - A few members were at the fire station when they heard a loud bang, an auto accident in front of the firehall. The Engine and Ambulance along with Medic Chief 56 arrived with two Class 2 pts, one confined. Both were transported to the FCMC. Units went available at 1122.

Possible Woods Fire

 

July 14th - At 2120 hrs, Co56 units were alerted to 6235 Aughwick Rd for a woods fire. At 2121 hrs, Co56 responded and arrived to find a small fire at a campsite at Cowans Gap State Park.

 

 

Co55 Brush Fire

 

July 14th - Co55 units were alerted at 1929 hrs for a brush fire at Thompson Rd & Stillwell Rd. At 1937 hrs Engine and Brush Co56 were dispatched and responded. Later to be placed available.

 

 

Motorcycle Wreck

 

July 13th - At 1616 hrs, E1-56, and A2-56 went responding to 5197 LHW. Units arrived with one patient and no fluid spills. Available at 1650.

FC Dwelling Fire

July 10th - Engine and Tanker 56 were alerted at 0930 to Franklin County 200 Brindle Dr for a dwelling fire and was cancelled per Command 9.

 

Transfer to FC Co9

 

July 10th - At 0031 hrs E2-56 transferred with 4 to Co9's quarters while they operated at a house fire in Co3's area. The Engine remained at Co9's hall until placed in service at 0407 hrs, with no calls handled.

 

Motorcycle Accident

 

July 9th - E1-56, A2-56 and the Medic responded at 1418 hrs to 122 Leisure Mountain Road in Licking Creek Township for a motorcycle accident. Crews arrived with one pt Class 2. Units went in service at 1445.

 

Medical Assist Into Land Rescue

 

July 8th - At 1515 hrs A2-56 and the Medic went responding to 6235 Aughwick Road at the Cowans Gap State Park for dyspnea. While enroute, Headquarters dispatched Engine Company 56 for medical assist due to the fact the patient was located up a remote trail. E1-56 arrived and a crew of firefighters, EMT's and the Paramedic headed into the woods on a hiking trail. Personnel walked, while carrying a stokes basket, for about an hour before reaching the patient who then walked out under their own power. 56 personnel cleared at 1714.

 

 

Two Different Parades, Two 1st Place Trophies

 

July 7th - Br1-56 traveled to Metal Township for the Fannettsburg Fest & Parade, while Tanker 56 went down south to Great Cacapon for a parade. Both units returned home with first place trophies.

Landing Zone at the Mountain House

 

July 7th - A1-56 and M56 responded at around 1030 hrs to Cowans Gap State Part for a bicycle accident. Units arrived with a Class 1 patient and requested STAT MedEvac to the scene. E1-56 responded with 5 to the nearby Mountain House Restaurant and set up a LZ in the parking lot. All units cleared the scene at 1130 hrs.

 

"Building Fire" At JLG

 

July 5th - At 0742 hrs Co56 units were dispatched to JLG Industries, at 1 JLG Drive for a building fire. C56 responded at arrived within minutes to find personnel burning off propane tanks, no building fire. 56 units went available.

 

Motorcycle Wreck in the Boro

 

July 1st - At 2141 hrs, Engine Ambulance and Medic 56 were alerted to 637 LWE in the boro for a reported motorcycle accident. Units arrived with one motorcyclist involved and was transported to the hospital Class 1. Units went available at 2150.

 

Open House A Success

 

June 16th - McConnellsburg residents, including fire company members, and members from FC18 and Monroe Twp Fire Co toured the new fire house and apparatus.

Lawn Mower Fire Next to a House

 

June 17th - Br1-56, E1-56, and A3-56 responded to 275 Double Deuce Drive in Ayr Township for a lawn mower fire. Br1-56 arrived with the mower well off next to a structure. Personnel knocked the fire and cooled down the house with the siding melted. Br1-56 foamed and units went in service.

 

 

 

Franklin County Barn Fire

 

June 15th - At around 0730 hrs, Co9 was alerted on a barn fire at 6841 Buchanan Trail West in Montgomery Twp, Box 9-03. Co9 units arrived and requested additional units with a fully involved barn. E1-56 and T56 were alerted and responded with a total of 10. Both units reported to the scene and sent manpower up the lane. E1-56 then responded to Anderson Rd to set up a fill site. T56 hauled numerous loads. Both units went available at around 1200 hrs.

Auto Into a Pole

 

June 13th - Fulton County Communications paged a severe thunderstorm warning for Fulton County close to 1800hrs. About 10 minutes later, the skies opened up. At around 1700 hrs, just as the storm let up, Co56 was dispatched for an auto accident in the 17000 block of Great Cove Road. E1-56 responded w/ 6 along with A2-56 and arrived with one vehicle into a utility pole. Personnel assisted in traffic control and checking hazards while EMS took pt refusals. Just as 56 units went available, Co55 was alerted on a possible house fire, bringing E1-56 and TANKER 56. Units responded and was turned around at the Needmore Fire Station.

 

 

 

Stove Fire

 

June 11th - At around 1200 hrs, E1-56 responded to the 1300 BLK of Great Cove Rd for a stove fire. The Engine arrived with no fire and units went in service.

 

 

 

MVA

 

May 30th - E1-56 and A2-56 responded at 1650 hrs to the intersection of LHW and Back Run Rd for a single vehicle accident. Personnel arrived to find one auto with pt refusals

 

 

 

Motorcycle Accident

 

May 28th - At 0922 hrs, E1-56, A2-56 and the Medic responded to 17500 LHW for a motorcyle wreck. Units arrived with one Class 1 pt with no debris. A2-56 transported and E1-56 went available at 0945 hrs

Auto Accident

 

May 15th - E1-56 and A3-56 responded at 0352 hrs to the intersection of LWE and Reservoir Rd for a reported auto accident w/ unknown injuries. Units arrived on the scene with one pt. A3-56 transported to the FCMC while the Engine checked and contained hazards. Co56 went available at 0413 hrs.

 

 

 

Brush Fire

 

May 8th - At around 1315 hrs, Headquarters dispatched 57 for a brush fire in the area of Great Cove Rd and Sinequipe Rd. Units from 56 were alerted at 1330 hrs - E2-56, T56, Br1-56, and Br2-56 responded at 1332 hrs. Units arrived with a rapidly spreading fire into the woods. Personnel put a quick knockdown on the fire and 56 units went available at 1520 hrs.

 

 

 

MVA

 

April 25th - Engine and Ambulance Co56 were alerted to the intersection of Great Cove and Big Cove Tannery Road for an auto accident. Units arrived to confirm dispatch.

 

 

 

Assisting on the Woods Fire

 

April 24th - At 1500 hrs Franklin County dispatched Co9 on a woods fire at 7570 Robinson Road in Montgomery Twp. Command 9 arrived with a spreading woods fire and requested additional brush units and manpower to the scene bringing Fulton E2-56. The Engine responded with 6 and arrived to assist with hot spots. Command 9 released the Engine at 1654 hrs.

 

 

 

Brush Fire

April 23rd - At 1847hrs, 56 units were alerted to 1101 Circle Drive for a field fire. Units went on the scene with the fire spreading rapidly towards the woods. Both 56 Brush units put a quick knock on the fire. Units remained on scene, hitting any hot spots and went available.

 

 

 


 

Barn Fire

 

 

 

April 23rd - At 1330hrs, 56 responded to Laurel Ridge Rd for a barn fire. E1-56 arrived first with a fully engulfed building. Personnel knocked the fire down with no injuries and units went available at 1600 hrs.

 

 

 


Motorcylce Accident w/ Double Fly-Out

April 22nd - E1-56, A3-56, A2-56, and M56 responded to Cito Rd & Buck Hollow Rd for an auto accident involving a motorcycle. Units arrived with two dirt bikes head on with two Priority 1 pts. Command 56 requested M60 and STAT to land on the scene. Br1-56 set up a second LZ at the High School for Life Lion. All units went available at around 2200hrs.

 

 

While cleaning up from the accident, units were dispatched to the intersection of Peach Orchard and LHW for a brush fire. Br1-56 arrived and extinguished a small fire.


Car Port Fire

April 21st - At around 1800hrs, Co56 units were alerted to Pheasant Trail for a car port and vehicle fire. A good portion of our members were at the Southern Fulton HS for a donkey basketball game vs Co55, so our manpower was limited. Tanker 56 and C56 responded and arrived with a car garage on the ground with two vehicles fully involved. Personnel put a quick knockdown and went available. Units from 56, and 55 were on the scene.

Brush Fire

April 10th - Br1-56, E2-56, and T56 responded at 1609 to 295 Heritage Drive in Todd Township for a wild fire. Units arrived with a small area of woods and brush involved. Personnel contained and went available.

Woods Fire

April 7th - Units from 55 & 56 were alerted at 1700hrs to 1585 Waltz Rd for a woods fire. Brushes 1 & 2-56 and E2-56 responded along with Br55, MP55, and T55 and arrived with a small area involved also with wires down and arcing. Personnel contained and Br1-56 foamed the area and units went available.

MVA in the Boro

April 7th - At 1420hrs, members at the station were informed of a bad wreck at the intersection of S. 2nd St and LHW. E1-56, A1-56 and M56 responded immediately and arrived with 3 vehicles involved with one Priority 1 patient. Fire & EMS packaged the pt and transported to FCMC with STAT already in the air.E1-56 contained hazards and went available. Br1-56 handled the LZ at the McConnellsburg High School.


Brush Fire

April 3rd - At around 1330hrs, units from 55 & 56 were alerted to Donahoe Lane for a brush and woods fire. Units arrived with a large area involved. Personnel contained the fire and went in service at around 1430hrs.

 


Transfer & Assist

March 31st - At 2217hrs an Engine from 56 was alerted to transfer to Co9's quarters. A few minutes later Brush 1-56 was alerted to assist on a mountain fire at 3662 Stoney Batter Rd. E2-56 was transferring with 4 and was placed in service. Br1-56 operated on the mountain fire and went available in about an hour.


Field Fire

March 31st - While on scene in Franklin County, Fulton County dispatched a tractor fire in a field at 1127 Ravensburg Road. E1-56, BC Brush 32-62 responded from 56 and MP55 also responded. E2-56 and Br2-56 were staging at the mountain fire and responded to assist. Units arrived with the fire spreading rapidly. The fire was contained and all units went available in about 2 hrs.

 


Mountain Fire in FC

March 31st - Members were busy with the craft show and ox-roast at the firehall when Franklin County dispatched an Engine and Brush from 56 to 3662 Stoney Batter Road in FC Peters Township. Br1 and 2-56 responded along with E2-56 and arrived to assist in containment. Due to the remote location, only Brush 9 and 1-56 could make it up the steep lane. Brush 2-56 could only make it half way and its manpower was forced to walk the rest of the way. The fire burned an acre before it was put under control. Crews from 9, 56, 18, 3, 8, WC 13 and the Forestry Dept were on scene.

Early Morning Accident

 

March 31st - At 0206hrs, E1-56 and A1-56 responded to 16922 Great Cove Rd for an auto accident, unknown injuries. Units arrived on the scene with one auto into a pole with two Class 3 patients. The vehicle struck a deer at a high rate of speed and sheared off a pole. Units went available in about 30 min.

Small Brush Fire

March 26th - Co56 units were alerted at 1718hrs to the 900 Block of Meadow Mt Drive in Ayr Township for a brush fire. E2-56, Brushes 1 and 2-56, T56, and A2-56 went responding. Br1-56 and C56 arrived on scene to find a small wooded area involved. Both lines were pulled and the fire was contained.

 


Chimney Fire

March 18th - At 0956 hrs, E2-56 and T56 responded to 1694 N. Clear Ridge Road for a chimney fire assisting Co57. 56 units arrived to assist in ventilation and cleaning the flu. The Engine and Tanker went available at around 1130 hrs.

2 Assist Calls

 

March 2nd - E1-56 and T56 responded to assist Co57 on an AFA on Forbes Trail Road at around 0600hrs. 56 units were turned around and on the way back, E1-56 was called to Cooper Lane to assist EMS with lifting. E1-56 went available at around 0645hrs.

 


Franklin County House Fire

 

Feb 27th - At around 1445hrs, Franklin County 911 alerted Tanker 56 to the boro of Mercersburg for a house fire. The NEW Tanker 56 responded on its first run with 6 followed by E1-56 which was dispatched a few minutes later. 56 units arrived to assist in salvage and overhaul operations. E1-56 and the Tanker went available at around 1600hrs.

Auto Accident

 

Feb 27th - E1-56 and A3-56 responded at 1144 hrs to Cito Road just off of Lincoln Highway for an auto accident. Units arrived with two vehicles involved with the roadway completely blocked. Crews contained hazards and went available.

Auto Accident

 

Feb 21st - At around 1730hrs, Fulton Headquarters received a call from AC18 reporting an auto accident with confinement at 18734 LHW at the Mountain House Restaurant. E1-56 and A2-56 arrived to find two vehicles involved with patient self extricated and roadway partially blocked. Co56 went available in about 30 min.

E1-56 had 5, A2-56 w/ 3, and 14 POV's


2 Outside Investigations, and an AFA

 

Feb 13th - 14th - At 1930hrs Co56 received a call for a possible building fire on Back Run Road. To be on the safe side, 56 contacted Headquarters to dispatch for an outside investigation. C2-56 arrived to find a large contolled burn and place the box in service at 1938. At around 0130 hrs, 56 units were alerted to Great Cove Rd in Todd Twp for an outside investigation. C2-56 responded and arrived with another controlled burn. Almost a half hour later, Co56 was dispatched for an automatic fire alarm in the boro. Headquarters called back and advised a false trip.


Vehicle Fire

 

Feb 10th - E1-56, T56, and A1-56 responded to 594 Strawberry Ridge Road for a car fire at 0450 hrs. Units arrived with a truck fully involved. The Engines crew put a quick knockdown and went available at 0531 hrs.

 


Transfer to Co57

 

Feb 9th - E2-56 transferred with 6 to Co57 while they were on a chimney fire. E2-56 went in service in approx. 1 hr.


Mutual Aid

 

Feb 8th - E1-56 and the Tanker were alerted to 368 Mountain Road in FC Peters Twp for an inside investigation. E1-56 arrived on scene to be placed available by Command 9.


Turned Around Again

 

Feb 7th - E1-56 and Tanker 56 responded to 1703 Black Bear Rd to assist 55. Units were turned around 1430 and went in service at 1432.


Transfer Assignment

 

Feb 4th - E2-56 transferred to Co57's quarters at 0031 with 5. Completed transfer at 0049 and was released at 0456 hrs.


Fire Cancelled Enroute

 

Feb 2nd - At 2133 hrs, 56 units responded on an assist call to 5050 Sipes Mill Road Box 55-01.  E1-56 and the Tanker were placed in service at 2146 hrs.


Field Fire

 

Feb 1st - At around 1330 hrs, Co56 responded to Hickory Hollow Lane in Todd Township for a field fire. Units arrived with between 7 and 8 acres involved. Command 56 requested additional brush units with Brushes 1 and 2-56 already on scene. Brushes from Co55, 57, FC9, FC18, and the Forestry Dept were on scene as well. Units contained the fire and returned to service at 1500 hrs.

Busy Weekend Starts Off with Chimney Fire

 

Jan 25th - 56 units started off the weekend at 1823 with a chimney fire in the boro at 116 LWW. Units arrived with the fire contained to the chimney. Co56 went in service at 1905.

 

 


Chimney Fire Box 9-56A

 

Jan 26th - At 2000 hrs, Franklin County alerted the 9-56A box for a chimney fire with extension. E1-56 responded w/ 5, and arrived to assist in knockdown. Co9 was assisted by 56, FC3, FC18, and Sta4. 56 units went available at 1905.

 


 

Licking Creek Twp Fire

 

Jan 27th - Co55 and 57, E1-56, E2-56, T56, and TR56 were alerted at 1646 to 104 Owl Creek Rd in Licking Creek Twp for a garage fire. While enroute, Headquarters upgraded to a small barn fire. E1-56 arrived on the scene w/ 5 behind E1-55 and pulled two 1 3/4 hand lines. All companies worked together in the knockdown and went in service at 2045. Thanks to FC Co21 for transferring during the fire.

Warren Township MVA

 

Jan 28th - Later that night at 0309 hrs, Engine and Ambulance Co56 were alerted to Little Cove Rd off of Buchanan Trail West for an auto accident with reported entrapment, Box 9-56. E1-56, A3-56, and Medic 56 responded and arrived with negative entrapment. Units went available at 0429.

E1-56 w/ 5, A3-56 w/ 3, and M56 w/ 2.


House Fire

 

Jan 28th - At 0917 Co56 was alerted to assist 57 on a house fire at 2149 N. Clear Ridge Rd. Both Engines from 56 responded with full crews along with T56 w/ 2, and TR56 w/ 2. Units arrived to assist in knockdown. E2-56 handled the fill site. All 56 units went in service at 1105.

 


Co55 Brush Fire

 

Jan 28th - Co55 and 56 units were dispatched to 123 Waltz Road for a brush fire. Units arrived on the scene with appox  2 - 3 acres involved. 55 and 56 worked together in ext. All units went available at 1545 hrs.

45th Annual Awards Banquet

 

Jan 20th - The McConnellsburg Volunteer Fire Company held our 45th annual awards banquet this evening to give recognition to the members. Guests enjoyed a meal catered by the American Legion, followed by awards. EMT of the Year was awarded to Trent Clugston. Chiefs Award went to Mike Chilcote. Fireman of the Year was awarded to Norman "Bubby" Everts. And as a special award, given by Deputy Chief Rodney Mellott, was awarded to Chief Lynch for starting his 20th year as Chief.  The Active Firefighters were given LED flashlights and pocket knives. Guests enjoyed a 17 min slide show program followed by gag gifts to lighten the evening. A good time was had by everyone, thanks to FC18 for handling our calls.

Auto Accident

 

Jan 20th - During our Awards Banquet, units from 56 were dispatched to the intersection of Lincoln HW and Great Cove Road. FC18 was on standby running our E1-56 and responded with 6. Units arrived with two vehicles involved. The Engines crew contained hazards and went available.


18734 Lincoln Highway

 

Jan 19th - At around 1300 hrs, 56 units were alerted to 18734 LHW for an auto accident. Units arrived with three autos involved. All three Ambulances from 56 were on the scene. E1-56 contained hazards and went available at 1428 hrs.

 


Franklin County Garage Fire

 

Jan 9th - E1-56, E2-56, and T56 responded at 2030 hrs to 10025 Little Cove Road in FC Warren Township. E1-56 arrived on scene behind ET9 and assisted in initial knockdown. Extensive salvage and overhaul operations were completed at around 0030 hrs. 56 was on scene with 22 personnel. Thanks to E1-57 for transferring to the hall during the fire.
